History of the Trust

The South Carolina Revolution Trust is a natural outgrowth of the South Carolina Sestercentennial Commission to continue to promote the importance of the efforts of South Carolina Patriots who fought valiantly in front of and behind the scenes to obtain their liberty from England and to establish the viability of America as a respected world contributor.

Charles Baxley, Chairman of the SC250 Commission, first recognized the  need to act quickly to identify REVWAR collections that could be lost due to natural causes, and he assembled a group of unbiased historians who share a passion for telling all facets of the stories that helped Americans shape the world. He offered his collections as the first gifts to the Trust, and other collections are in the process of being identified while preliminary organizational steps are underway to establish the charitable organization. The Trust will move forward quickly to preserve the REVWAR change agents, the people, their stories, their places, and their things, for the people of today for tomorrow.
